On July 12, 2009, the U.S. DOE and SEMI PV Group invited PV manufacturing industry stakeholders to attend a PV Technology Roadmap Workshop.

The objective of this workshop was to gather industry feedback regarding the need for and requirements of a U.S. PV Technology Roadmap—its scope, structure and implications on PV standardization efforts and other issues. Attendees heard about technology roadmap models from other industries, such at the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) and then brainstormed in four breakout sessions about specific priorities, anticipated manufacturing challenges and overall parameters for a meaningful, collective industry effort.
