Solon SE

SOLON SE is one of the largest manufacturers of solar
modules in Europe as well as a supplier of solar system
technology for large-scale rooftop and Greenfield
installations. The SOLON Group has subsidiaries in
Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and the U.S. and
employs some 900 people worldwide. SOLON’s core
business is producing solar modules and photovoltaic
systems along with planning and constructing large
rooftop installations and turnkey solar power plants all
over the world.

Program:

  • Introduction by Lars Podlowski, CTO
  • Balcony tour of production line
  • Visit of energy efficient SOLON Headquarter Building

Sulfurcell

Sulfurcell has been manufacturing and developing thin-
film solar modules based on chalcopyrite-type
semiconductors (CIS/CIGSe) since 2003. As an industrial

company in Berlin our origin is at the Hahn-Meitner-
Institut, Europe’s largest research institute on thin-film
photovoltaics. To date technological leadership as well as
continuous improvement of our products have been our
principal goals.

Program:

  • Introduction of Sulfurcell
  • Balcony tour of production (ramping up)
  • Tour to roof

Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin

In the department of solar energy our scientists are
working on the next generation of solar cells, including
new kinds of materials and innovative cell structures.
Long-term goals are to develop efficient and competitive
thin film solar cells and multispectral cells. Thin-film
technologies are developed to a stage where industrial
applications can follow as the next step. As cofounder of
the Photovoltaic Competence Centre (PVcomB) HZB
supports the technology transfer to the industry.

Program:

  • Introduction of Helmholtz Zentrum
  • Tour of BESSY
  • Visit of laboratories
