SEMI PV Standards Update – July 2009
SEMI PV Standards Update – July 2009
James Amano, Director, SEMI International Standards
The past few months have seen significant additions to the global PV effort in the SEMI Standards Program. Japan and Taiwan have both now officially joined the global PV Standards Technical Committee – the Japan PV Standards Committee was approved in May, and the Taiwan PV Standards Committee was approved recently in July during SEMICON West. The North America PV Standards Committee now has a Materials Task Force, which will develop specifications, guidelines and procedures related to materials essential to the manufacture of PV cells and modules, such as substrates, transparent conductive oxide films, and starting materials such as polysilicon and upgraded metallurgical-grade silicon. In addition, PV2: “Guide For PV Equipment Communication Interfaces”, developed by the European PV Standards Committee, has been published and is now being used by the PV industry.
