Be a part of Korean solar energy industry history—plan now to attend SOLARCON Korea 2009!

SOLARCON Korea is the first and only trade event in Korea focused on serving the complete photovoltaic (PV) solar energy supply chain—from PV manufacturing materials and equipment, to solar cells, modules, systems, and installation.

SOLARCON Korea will bring the latest in PV technology to the fast-growing Korean solar market. Korean industry is leveraging its expertise in microelectronics and flat panel display manufacturing, investing in photovoltaic research and production, and positioning itself to emerge as a world-leader in PV technology. Forecasts project Korea growing to a 10% world market share of PV production by 2012, with US$3 billion in exports.

Showcase product areas include:

  • Manufacturing equipment and materials for bulk silicon and thin film photovoltaics
  • Components, parts, and sub-assemblies for PV manufacturing
  • Solar cells and modules
  • Systems and installation

Show Dates and Location

Dates: January 20-22, 2009
Hours; 10:00-17:00 (Last day: 10:00-16:00)
Venue: COEX, Indian Hall
Organizer: SEMI PV Group

Additional Information

SOLARCON Korea 2009 will be co-located with SEMICON Korea 2009, which draws approximately 30,000 visitors from the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

SEMI PV Activities Expand Worldwide

As the global association for the photovoltaic (PV) supply chain, the PV Group is committed to delivering targeted, high value, productive solar exhibitions and conferences to the industry and our members. Working with industry partners and existing events, the PV Group supports events that encourage collaboration on industry roadmaps, align with customer priorities, and focus on common industry obstacles.

SEMI PV activities are expanding worldwide, driven by SEMI PV Group Advisory Committees established throughout the world, and important partnerships with other PV and solar organizations. Established last year, the SEMI PV Group is comprised of SEMI members active in PV, SEMI PV Advisory Committees, and dedicated staff resources in Europe, North America, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and China. A summary of the recent and planned developments is provided below.

SOLARCON China and SOLARCON Korea to be Held in Conjunction with SEMICON Events
To meet the supply chain’s need for practical, rationalized events that can address both PV and semiconductor markets, SOLARCON China and SOLARCON Korea will be held in conjunction with SEMICON expositions in 2009. SOLARCON China is anticipated to be the most comprehensive solar technology event in China. It will include more than 10,000 square meters of exhibit space and more than 300 international exhibitors from across the photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing supply chain-from materials and equipment, to solar cells, modules, systems, and installation for both commercial and consumer applications. Polysilicon Suppliers Meeting
A Polysilicon Suppliers Meeting was held at SEMICON West 2008 to discuss a number of issues related to the PV polysilicon market. Primary among them was the current situation where many material sources are going by the name “polysilicon” causing market confusion, quality concerns and higher costs. The group was unanimous in stating that “urgency is needed to address solar feedstock requirements and to categorize the feedstock into a few high level categories.” The group is expediting definitions and standards activities to address the problem.

Over 40,000 Attend PV Japan
The inaugural event, PVJapan 2008, was successfully held from Wednesday, July 30 to Friday, August 1 at Tokyo Big Sight. Held in conjunction with the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) 25th Symposium on Photovoltaic Generating Systems and co-located with Renewable Energy 2008 Tokyo Fair (RE2008), organized by Japan Council for Renewable Energy, a total 44,547 people, including 6,472 Program Attendees and 1,172 VIPs, attended the event, surpassing all projections. Like Intersolar North America, PVJapan was a successful collaboration designed to focus and consolidate supply chain events in support of SEMI PV Group members.

Next year, PVJapan 2009 will be held from Wednesday, June 24 to Friday, June 26 at Makuhari Messe to upgrade event scale. We look forward to seeing you again in 2009.

SEMI PV Group at Malaysia’s National PV Conference
Terry Tsao, president of SEMI South East Asia (SEA), presented SEMI’s global activity in the Photovoltaic (PV) industry at Malaysia’s National PV Conference 2008 (NPVC 2008), held on August 14 at Malaysia’s administrative capital, Putrajaya.
