International PV Module Quality Assurance Forum International participation sought to develop standardized rating system  By James AmanoSenior Director, International Standards and EHS, SEMI While several standards developing organizations (SDOs) are hard at work developing standards to improve efficiency and reduce costs through the PV supply chain, there are currently no standards that quickly assess a module's ability to withstand regional stresses or a module's durability over decades of use. A rating system that provides comparative information about the durability of PV modules against a variety of stresses will be a useful tool to PV consumers and provide a starting point for improving the accuracy of quantitative PV lifetime predictions. In order to start a global effort to develop standards to predict module durability industry stakeholders will gather at the International PV Module Quality Assurance Forum on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 following Intersolar North America in San Francisco, CA. The Forum will be hosted by the US National Renewable Energies Laboratory (NREL) and the Japan National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).
