Fraunhofer ISE Celebrates 30th Anniversary
This year the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE), Europe’s largest solar energy research institute, celebrates its 30th anniversary. Founded in 1981 and led by SEMI International Board member Dr. Eicke Weber, Fraunhofer ISE today has over 1100 employees and national and international clients from a wide range of business sectors and company sizes. The Institute is integrated into a network of national and international co-operation. Among others, it is a member of Solar Energy Research Association (Forschungsverbund Sonnenenergie) and the European Renewable Energy Centres (EUREC) Agency. There is particularly close co-operation with the Albert Ludwig University (Material Research) in Freiburg, where Weber also teaches.

India's PV Future By Vincent Kapur, ISET
Recently, India has become a hot topic among those looking for the next big market to emerge for photovoltaics. PV technologies are being imported to India from other nations with vastly different fundamental energy situations.
PV Standards Update: July 2011 By Kevin Nguyen, SEMI
The SEMI Photovoltaic (PV) Standards Committee recently met at Intersolar North America in San Francisco, California. Eight of eleven balloted documents were approved by the committee, and will be published pending procedural review.
Maturing Printed Electronics Infrastructure Enables Solar/Memory Markets
Reduced costs - not increased performance - will largely drive solar module-makers' adoption of new non-active materials technologies.
Flexible OPV Modules Sharpen Market's Growth Curve
By Alex Carter, Lux Research
With only a handful of small demonstration products shipped to date, the current market for organic photovoltaic (OPV) modules is essentially zero. That will almost certainly change over the next decade.
