New ITRPV Edition Focuses on Materials and Enabling Technologies|
By Stephan Raithel, Director, SEMI Europe
SEMI will unveil the new edition of the International Technology Roadmap for PV (ITRPV) at the Photovoltaic Fab Managers Forum in Berlin, Germany on March 11, 2013.
The new 2012 edition of the International Technology Roadmap for PV was enhanced along the supply chain to feature technical parameters from silicon to PV systems. The accuracy and reliability of the technical parameters presented in this year's edition was enhanced by global contributions from leading manufacturers (Bosch Solar, Cel Celis, Hanwha Q.Cells, Hareon Solar, JA Solar, LDK, Motech, MPO Energy, Pillar, PV Silicon, REC Silicon, Schott Solar, Solarworld, Solon, Sunways). The new edition represents the input from more than 15 global PV manufacturers. In addition, new co-chairs from China and the U.S. round out the global coverage of the supply chain from polysilicon to PV systems.
China, India Emerge as Most Promising High-Growth Markets for Solar
By Matt Feinstein, Lux Research
Global policy changes and the crystalline silicon module price crash have brought the solar industry to a pivotal point from which it must transform and thrive in a cost-conscious environment, targeting high-growth markets such as China and India.
Tier 1 Polysilicon Producers Rationalize Supply to Photovoltaic Industry
By Charles Annis, NPD Solarbuzz
Polysilicon suppliers to the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry have been significantly lowering plant utilization rates during the past six months, with average quarterly utilization rates falling below 70%.
SEMI and U.S. Photovoltaic Manufacturing Consortium Sign MOU to Enable Focus on Standards and Roadmap Development
PVMC has partnered with SEMI to drive the development of standards and roadmaps that will guide next-generation PV research and advanced manufacturing.
CIGS Positioned for the Biggest PV COGS Reduction by 2017, but CdTe Remains the Undisputed COGS Champion
By Ed Cahill, Lux Research
Module COGS drivers like low-cost manufacturing locations, high efficiency, increased capacity utilization, and higher production yields will impact incumbent PV technologies in different ways making informed decisions critical throughout the value chain.
