China Solar Industry's Pursuit of Technological Excellence through Roadmap and Standards Activities

China's Tier 1 cell and module manufacturers are looking to further differentiate their products by focusing on technological excellence in their product development life cycle. This move is crucial in order to maintain market share and remain competitive in an increasingly fierce battle for business. To this end, Chinese manufacturers are increasing their participation in global photovoltaic standards development and the c-Si International Technology Roadmap for PV (ITRPV) - a sign that industry stakeholders are now open to global collaboration in order to survive.
One of the most enduring and profound collaborative activities is the development of global consensus-based standards which are developed by the industry for the industry.
